Marshalls are a well known UK paving manufacturer who are now implementing fair trade. They have created a Fair Stone range which includes Marshalls Fairstone Antique Paving. This paving is proven ethically sourced Indian Sandstone. Marshalls support the Ethical Trading Initiative(ETI) and the Base Code which sets out fair working confitions for all workers and their ultimate aim is to acieve continuous improvement for all workers and their families in stone production in India.
Key Ethical Values and commitments for Marshalls:
No child labour is used
Indian workers receive living wages
Health and safety practices are in place
Marshalls employ a full-time Social Auditor who ensure these values are followed and implement the full ETI base code.
Marshalls Fairstone Antique Paving has a subtly distressed riven finish which gives an aged appearance to the paving product. Each paving slab is carefully calibrated to a consistent thickness to ensure speed and precission of installation.
Paving should be laid on a full bed of mortar with joints between 8-15mm wide and fully pointed with mortar. Paving should not be butt jointed. If used indoors, paving should be sealed with a proprietary water-based acrylic sealant.
Due to the natural origin of stone products there will inevitably be variants in colour from batch to batch. The colours shown here are a representative sample and viewing the actual product is recommended. Because these are natural materials, there will be minor size variations. This can normally be allowed fo in the laying pattern but it is recommended that layout is checked 'dry' before jointing.
