The Government, Economy and Crime in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The residents of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are suffering a lot from crime, corruptions as well as many other problems till date. For many years now, the country is living under suffering that has crippled people from all walks of life. Till date the government has not taken much initiative to resolve the issues and problems that these people are facing. According to some, the government itself is infested with too much of corruption that has damaged it to the roots. Though the government has taken some really good initiatives in the recent times, almost all their efforts became a complete failure owing to corruption in the highest government levels and inefficiency of the same.

Take our economic growth for example. The economy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is based on agriculture, especially on banana harvest. However, due to lack of proper infrastructure and some natural calamity the banana production in this country has gone down considerably. Once this country was the highest banana exporter in the Caribbean and now it produces only a fraction of what it used to produce. This drop in banana production has wrecked havoc in the economy of the country. The government however, can neither find a solution to the problem nor can they encourage the production of another crop that can earn revenue for the country and support its weakening economy. One can argue that though the ULP government has failed to boost up the agrarian economy it has tried to develop the tourism industry of the country by commencing the building of an international airport in the country. This however, is not enough to boost the economy of the country. The government needs to be more concerned about the other facets that encompass the day to day lives of the residents of the country.

Due to a steep drop in the banana production, more and more residents are becoming inclines to marijuana production. Over time, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has become one of the largest marijuana producers in the Caribbean. This has hampered the countries reputation as a tourist destination. The country has become a peaceful haven for the drug lords and yet our responsible' police authority is doing nothing about it. In fact, they have also released a drug lord early! How could they? As a result of the drug a trade, our country is facing too much of crimes which include but are not only restricted to murder, rape and theft. Talking about rapes and sexual assaults, doesn't everyone know that our honourable Prime Minister is himself charged of several sexual assault cases? Of courses charges do not prove a crime but still there must be something. When there is smoke there must be some fire, right?

Now the question is whether Saint Vincent and the Grenadines wants such a government to rule the country once again? Do the Vincentians want a Prime Minister who is rude, uncouth and uncultured to show his middle finger, disrespect towards the law and the women of the country and to insult the Vincentian? We will find the answer on the Election Day!
