So many people are opting for holidays within the UK to save a few pennies. Trying to creep out of a near economic meltdown is hard enough without the potential threat of job losses, bailiffs and repossession. A short break is important and many people look forward to being able to relax, re-charge their batteries and spend some time away from the office, and with the family.
As well as saving money, UK residents will also get to visit many places within their own country that they may never have seen before. Kent countryside is known as the Garden of England and there is some beautiful, picturesque countryside up North to see too.
Plan a UK road trip instead of booking abroad; you can take some time out to travel the length or breadth of the country. You don't even need a car either- if you plan enough in advance, travel can be cheaper on trains, coaches etc. Even if you fancy going a bit further afield and exploring the Scottish Highlands then you could also hire an Audi a1, Scotland is fairly cheap too.
If booking hotels is expensive, then think about camping- you may only need a tent, sleeping bag and general camping equipment. There are some popular destinations throughout the UK including beautiful towns such as Canterbury, Romanesque Bath, picturesque countryside in the Lake District and even the energy of a city, Edinburgh.
There are some people that have never ventured further than their home town and if you fit into this category then why not spread your wings a little and plan a roadtrip around the UK.
