Drinking and smoking are nasty habits by themselves but if you keep them up while you try to get healthier you won't get anywhere. Smoking is terrible for your body and it will keep you from being able to properly work out. Drinking wreaks havoc on your liver and decreases your energy level.

Besides that, drinks made with alcohol are packed with calories. Just working off the calories you consume from alcohol could take up your whole workout! Why would you do that to yourself?

It is possible to get in a full workout without having to spend hours at the gym. Elliptical trainers and rowing machines provide full body workouts with a single activity. You only need to spend twenty minutes on one of these machines to tone and train your whole body. Spending twenty minutes on the elliptical or rower is equal to spending sixty minutes on three different machines that works each part of your body by itself. You will probably choose to use one of these machines to help you get fit because using these machines can save you hours of time spent training each day.

Stay hydrated while you are exercising. Gatorade, PowerAde and other electrolyte infused beverages are really good to have on hand when you do a hard workout. At the very least you want to keep a full water bottle nearby so that you can hydrate periodically throughout your exercise routine. If you skip the hydration, you could do some serious and lasting damage to your body. Not all drinks were created equally. Don't bother with alcohol, sodas or sugary juices.

Fitness involves every aspect of your life. Jogging a few times a week is not all there is to getting fit. Fitness involves a healthy diet, healthy choices and a regular exercise routine. There are a lot of ways to help yourself succeed when you decide to get healthy. Just remember: fitness is just one part of leading a healthy lifestyle!
