Apart from golf, they find use in gardening, checking fence lines, hunting, hauling hay, neighborhood hopping, mail checking, cattle herding, movement for the handicapped, grandchildren toting and apartment security. In high profile sport events and meets, the officials use them for commuting. Hospitals, airports, national parks, college campuses, businesses, military bases and are even used in cases of medical emergencies finds golf carts useful. They are the primary mode of transportation many gated and retirement communities.

For using golf carts on city owned streets, the cart must be street legal and inspection done by officials. Large university campuses need these carts as the distances inside are not walk able. They facilitate transportation of books and other academic materials. They have paths or university owned streets that golf vehicles may commute even if not street legal. Moving between departments in the campus can be done with carts more easily than using the campus sidewalks.

Most golf courses make these vehicles mandatory and fees included with membership. This enables smooth transactions. Golf-cart paths are provided in the courses for the commutation of carts.

Electric models can be plugged and recharged after each use. The meter reading should display a charge of plus 10. A cart can run for four to six hours on a full battery, and run around 20 to 35 miles. With escalating gas prices nowadays and pollution of air with gas emissions, an electric car is the best choice.
