The Vital Office Chair
The Vital Office Chair

So you've just moved to a new apartment and while in the process of setting your home office, you realized that the chair that you have used for goodness knows how long, was almost as old as your grandmother, had almost as many creases and worn patches, and was generally in tatters. It is amazing how sentimental and attached to a chair one can become. "Get rid of it and buy a new one" your spouse would say, "it looks like it will fall apart any day soon".Well, when these things happen, all you have to do is dutifully go shopping for a new chair to go with your desk. Would it be a chair built for comfort, not speed, or would it be a chair with slick castors, that you could use to have races with your children when they come to visit, or would it be a staid, conservative offering?Whatever the choice, remember to measure the height of your desk and to take into account the dcor in your office when browsing for office chairs. You may now rightfully ask: why is it so complicated? It's just a chair! - Well, not really. A chair, just like any other office furniture, may contribute to creating a pleasant working environment and, for your comfort, should be soft, but not too much, considering that you will spend long hours on it.As soon as you enter an office furniture shop, you will be amazed at the many styles, sizes or colors chairs are available in. But where can you buy office chairs? I suggest you pay attention to the ads in the paper, or the ones on the local TV, because they are very likely to offer great products and promote amazing discounts. And, if you want your chair to be the right one, you might have to sit in over a hundred chairs in the space of about three or four days. You will slouch, sit, and swivel, check out the slick castor action, and also lean back (comfort rating test) with feet up on the desk for those essential introspective coffee and writers block moments that one has from time to time.I too had to change my office chair and settled for a nice light blue upholstered chair, swivel base and the sales lady assured me it would outlast me. Not sure what to make of that one. Oh, and by the way, it has got really smooth rolling castors. I am confidently expecting to win the next race and choose the ice cream.
