subject: The Winter Wedding Basic Tips & Tricks [print this page]

Winter weddings are different from summer ones and not because the season is different. A small change change in the wedding season can affect a lot of other things. Here are some of the major things that the winter season will affect.

The invitations

Invitations get a lot more formal with winter weddings, they cant be those simple printed cards with glitter. The colors change too, while white will work for every season, warmer shades are best for winter. Since winter weddings are more often formal black tie events than the semi-formal summer ones, the invitations take on a more formal look themselves with special calligraphy. The paper or card quality is different too, they tend to be textured and much heavier than the ordinary summer cards and needless to say that most have something related to the holiday season on them.

Centerpieces

In summer, centerpieces are all flowers. In winter, though you can have floral centerpieces, but youll have to choose between having flowers at the wedding or having a honeymoon because winter flowers cost a fortune. Thats why centerpieces for wedding tables in winter are a lot more creative and much easier to afford like candles, ornaments or fresh fruit arrangements and fruit bouquets.

Venues

Summer venues for wedding receptions are gardens, parks, church yards or backyards. For winter, the venues shift indoors. That means the lighting; the seating arrangements and the dcor will all be different. Weddings and receptions take place in ball rooms or rented halls and youre usually working with tall ceilings as opposed to the open sky of a garden or the stained windows of a church.
