The trunk. Seems sort of like the basement or attic of our cars. We never venture there unless we absolutely have to. And then we whine and frump when we open it up and it's such a mess!!
With a little work, and a nice custom fit trunk liner or mat, you can fix this - at least a little! Do a little pre Christmas shopping on line and find yourself a good quality floor cargo liner for your trunk. They make them to fit most vehicles on the market. Handy, eh?!! Next, get ALL that junk out of the trunk! Probably bring the trash can over. Keep the good stuff like your spare tire, the jack, the lug wrench, hopefully some emergency flares or signs, and a flashlight. Perhaps you even carry some extra oil, a can of fix-a-flat, a set of jumper cables, and some tools. Good job!
If you're like most of us, you likely also have your golf clubs, baseball gear, workout gear, tennis gear, and bowling gear, too. All nicely each in their own bags. Cool! That can go back in there too. If you're like my wife, you also have some shopping bags, frozen food bags, neck pillows, gloves, hats, blankets, and some food - just in case! That one's a toss up! Some type of emergency gear for the severe winter states is always a good thing, though, really!
If you are one living in the frozen tundra of the northern Midwest, you may also want to have some road salt, a flare gun ( with flares ), some extra pieces of carpet, a short handle shovel, and a fire extinguisher. Like I said, there still isn't gonna be any room for any bags or suitcases! That's what luggage racks are for, aren't they?!!
Anyway, go out and get yourself a nice, sturdy, well built floor liner, and put it down in there. It will keep all the rest of your stuff clean, dry, and, for the most part, in its place. It worth the money! Good luck with the rest!
