This article about certain issues concerning the American public. The issue of Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) Topeka, Kansas phenomenon of inciting hate through signs and pickets.According to journalistic reports, Michigan authorities recently have used a fence and a strong police turnout to keep the peace at what they feared might be a violent confrontation between a handful of Westboro Baptist Church anti-gay protesters outside a high school and a larger group of gay rights advocates. The Twone Courrier reported last week.
East Lansing police kept the three Westboro supporters apart from about 150 opposing protesters and students at East Lansing High School, where the church's demonstration came at the end of classes for the day Thursday. The Lansing State Journal (LSJ) says there was lots of shouting, but police were able to keep the event orderly.
The LSJ reported also that School Principal Paula Steele says she wanted the event to be a teaching opportunity about the need for tolerance and acceptance of differences.
A reader shows his annoyance to the WBC group which " just makes me sick." As s/ he wrote. I have just recently found out about this group and can't believe the things they do. And they are allowed to under the 1st Amendment."
The group recently picketed funerals to preach about what they think God is telling them. They picket soldiers funerals carrying signs that say "Thank God for dead soldiers", "Thank God for 9/11", "God hates you", "Islam is the Enemy" " Muhammad is pedophile" "God Hates Islam" and "America is Doomed", etc. They also have even picketed at childrens funerals carrying signs that say "Thank God for dead children". The WBC official website is inciting hate allover. Their ideas are disturbing the American public. Their disgusted idea for burning Qur'an was widely rejected and attacked.
