You want to make sure you control your portions. Controlling your portions will help you to NOT overeat. You don't want any uneccesary calories they will just be stored as fat. One cool way to control your portions is by putting your food on smaller plates. This way your mind thinks it has more food on the plate than it actually does. Eating an apple and some almonds as a snack before a meal will also have you feeling more full so you're less likely to eat more than you should.

Make sure your meals have a combination of lean proteins, complex carbs, and good fats.

These are the things your body needs. Some of the foods below can have more than one benefit.

Lean proteins promote muscle growth. Muscle requires more energy to be maintained so just having some muscle will help you burn more calories. The main sources for lean proteins are:

Fish/Seafood

Egg whites

Beans

Lean Beef

Powder Protein

Complex carbs can be found in pretty much all fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Some of the better ones are:

Pears, plums, oranges and grapefruit.

Spinach, Cabbage, Broccoli and ohter cruciferous plants, and yams.

For whole grains- Millet, oat bran, amaranth, wild rice and brown rice, and wheat germ

Good fats, these are your monounsatured and polyunsaturated fats. What these fats do, is that they help promote a healthy heart. These can be found in:

Salmon, trout, and sardines are rich in monounsaturatd and omega-3 fats.

Almonds, pecans and other nuts and seeds
