Paris, as everyone knows, is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world. A mecca for tourists, the city can be literally overrun at certain times of the year, with crowds of people vying for the same hotels, restaurants, museums and other attractions. Of course, Paris is a beautiful place to be in the spring, but the tourist invasion can spoil the experience a bit - that is if you can find a room in the first place. Long queues, crowded sidewalks and restaurants that are booked solid can make for a slightly disappointing experience.
That's why it's not a bad idea to book a Paris holiday during the winter months. It's true that Paris weather can be somewhat brutal in the winter, but there are sunny days and much of what Paris has to offer isn't dependent on good weather and there's something really charming about being there when the tourists have gone and the people who inhabit the city get back to normal life. You'll have the chance to feel a bit less like a tourist in this time of year and it's so much nicer to visit the Louvre or the other museums, galleries, stores and other attractions when the crowds aren't around.
There are some really solid bargains on hotel rooms in the winter months. Some of the most lavish accommodations in the city can be had for prices much lower than they charge in the peak months. It's possible to have the holiday you thought you couldn't afford if you shop around a bit. Some of the very top-rated hotels are offering prices this time of year for, well, at least less-than-astronomical rates. Le Meurice, for instance, a fabulous luxury hotel located right in the heart of the historic centre has winter room rates starting at 390 euros per night, which is quite a bit less than their summer rates.
For an even cheaper luxury Paris holiday, Hilton Hotel Paris Arc de Triomphe is offering rooms at winter rates starting at around 255 euros per night. The Hilton Arc de Triomphe offers the luxury you'd expect from a Hilton hotel but at a price lower than many of the other Arc de Triomphe hotels.
