How to Treat Arthritis Pain with Home Remedies

Arthritis symptoms include joint pain, inflammation and limited movement of joints. When a joint is inflamed it may be swollen, tender, warm to the touch or red. Surrounding each joint is a protective capsule holding a lubricating fluid to aid in motion. Cartilage, a slippery smooth substance, covers most joints to assure an even, fluid motion of the joint.

Types of arthritis: - There are over 80 types of arthritis but the two most common are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid.

Osteoarthritis is a condition that denotes natural wear and tear of joints which often follows ageing. Persons who have suffered injuries previously, either through accidents or sports, farming occupation are the most sufferers.

It rarely occurs in young age but is quite common as the age advances. The wear and tear of joints is a natural sequence. Rheumatoid is an auto-immune disorder where synovial membranes that line the joints, get inflamed and thickened, leading to pain and deformity of joints. It is often called "cooked food disease".

Symptoms of Arthritis: - The main symptoms of osteoarthritis are pain and stiffness in the joints. The pain usually increases after exercise. Rheumatoid arthritis is often called the 'cooked food disease'. lt usually develops gradually over several months, with persistent pain and stiffness in one or more joints. Ultimately the whole body is affected. Symptoms include anemia, colitis, constipation, deformed hands and feet.

Causes of Arthritis: - This ailment is caused due to the aggravation of Vata (air) dosha and accumulation of Ama (toxins). Ama gets deposited in the weak areas of the body, joints with a simultaneous aggravation of Vata that is known as Ama Vata (arthritis).

Weak digestion, constipation, overeating and very little physical activity are the symptoms that can develop in a patient of arthritis.

Home Remedies for Arthritis: -

Eat Alfalfa or take alfalfa capsules. It's very rich in minerals needed for the formation of bones.

Mix 10 grams of camphor with 200 grams of mustard oil. Keep this mixture in a tightly corked bottle and expose it to sunlight, daily, until the camphor melts. Regularly massage the affected area with this mixture.

Drink 15 grams of fresh bathu juice daily especially on an empty stomach. This is one of the effective home remedies for joint pains.

Regularly taking one cup of hot water with two teaspoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder two times a day can show encouraging results within a month.

Take Vitamin E to protect and improve joint mobility.

Mix olive oil with diluted garlic, juniper, lavender, sage, rosemary, thyme, or sassafras oil. The mix should be in the ratio of 1:10, where 10 represent the parts of olive oil. Massage this mixture over the affected area.

Drinking a small glass of cranberry juice every morning speeds up the curing process. The results will begin to show within 2-3 months.
