Save your money
Saving money seemed pretty foreign to many families over the past few years, but people are now becoming more and more aware of the great benefits that come from saving money. It used to be that if a person did not have the money they were not able to purchase an item. And while people were sometimes disappointed when they were not able to get something they wanted, they usually worked hard and saved their money and were eventually able to purchase the item.
This old fashion strategy of saving money is a terrific way for a person to get what they want without using credit. People can save for cars, clothes, food, entertainment, and even for much of the money they need for a house (or at least a decent down payment.) Saving money takes time, hard work, and a conscious effort, but the reward of finally getting the prized possession is just that much sweeter.
Do without
Some people may feel that they cannot live without credit. They purchase just about everything they have-their house, car, clothes, food, etc.-using credit. But in all honesty, many people could do just fine without using so much credit.
A person should think about what they can do without. Do they have to eat out so often using their credit card? Or do they have to have a boat, an expensive car, and other things they just can't afford without using credit? It has been proven by many people and families that they can live within their means and still be very happy. There are many ways people can enjoy life without using credit.
However, it is true that most people have to buy a house, perhaps even a car, using credit. And many people benefit from using the type of credit that is referred to as service credit (these are monthly payments that people make such as their telephone, electricity, water, and gas.) The point is that a person does not have to purchase everything from using credit alone.
Use a debit card, etc.
A person may wonder how they will be able to buy things online if they do not use a credit card. There are actually several options. For example, they can use a debit card. And to keep the money in their checking account safe they can use something like Pay Pal. Another option is for a person to buy a prepaid Visa gift card and use it to purchase things online.
Sharing
Sharing is one of the basic skills most people learn as toddler and hopefully begin to master as they get older. This skill should not go to waste when the person is an adult. Sharing, in some cases, can be a good option to using credit. Sharing can work especially well within a family. For example, perhaps a family does not need to purchase a third or fourth car just because another child has turned 16 and now has a driver's license. Maybe the siblings could share a car.
Neighbors and family members can share or trade off using things they have such as a boat, four wheelers, a vacation home, etc. This way a person does not need to have to use credit to have access to each of these items. And instead of using a credit card to purchase things for entertainment, neighbors and family members can share DVD's, video games, etc.http://www.ixgw.com/2010/06/the-other-options-people-have-besides-using-credit/
