World of Warcraft is now the world's biggest and most popular online game. With the latest Cataclysm expansion pack the game has changed forever and introduced the brand new WoW Reforging mechanic.

Blizzard explains that the idea of Mastery is to give the players one important stat to stack which is applicable to their class based on the talent specialty. This simplifies many class stat weight discussions to the point where the simple answer is, just stack Mastery.
While this is true for many classes it isn't true for all classes and spec combinations yet but I'm certain Blizzard will continue tuning until it is.
So to sum up that it's safe to say the ultimate goal is to make mastery the best stat to stack for every class with other primary and secondary stats following in behind depending on the class.
How does WoW Reforging play a part in this? Reforging plays a key role in this strategy because it enables players to effectively and efficiently customize gear in a way they never could before.
Sure gear was gemmable in the past but gems weren't available on every piece of gear and you could never modify the secondary stats on the gear. If it dropped and it wasn't great, then it would never be great.
Reforging means taking 40% of a secondary stat and applying that budget it to a different secondary stat that the gear doesn't already have. For example it's easy to move Haste into Critical Strike rating.
This results in a much wider audience for gear drops because players can modify gear to fit their play styles. A drop that was exclusive to holy priests before can now possibly suit a shadow priest as well with a little Reforging.
