Advantages of college life Notwithstanding all difficulties and negative sides of college life, it is a wonderful period of life. During student life people make friends and not only develop their professional skills but realize their creative potential. Communication with peer students and participation in extracurricular activities are an integral part of student life at college. This side has impact on development of one's traits of character. The fact is that development of communicational skills may be beneficial for professional growth as well. Period of student life coincides with the period of personal maturation. As a rule, graduating from college, people are ready to meet the challenges of adult life. College community is said to be a microcosm of society. Struggling against the difficulties of student life people get ready for the challenges of their adulthood. The first skills of time management and thrift are developed in this period. But for certain reasons people choose distant learning and deprive themselves of student life at college. Realities of distant learning Some teens are aimed at making a career and consider college life to be waste of time. They have got misconceptions concerning college education. They are purposeful and highly-motivated and are able to learn the course material distantly without control of professors. Still, people working full day are always short of time and cannot devote a lot of time to their studies. Another factor is the necessity to juggle making a career, studies and personal life. Distant learning requires perfect time-management skills and strong will of power. Starting one's career early a person may be not ready to struggle against the difficulties. Choosing distant learning a person is to make sure that he/she is independent; responsible; highly-motivated; well-conditioned. Only teens with well developed above mentioned qualities may become successful distant learners. Otherwise they might not get through this important period and drop out without receiving a degree.
