Most of the time it is increasingly difficult and more time intensive to deal with acne when it attacks your back.
Body acne is a second name for back acne. It tends to form on the back, upper arms and the buttocks and can take several
forms: pimples, blackheads, pustules and cysts, that are very painful and form deep under the skin's surface.
The back has tough skin with a large number of glands inside. This glands produce a human oil that is considered to be one of the major acne causes.
What is body acne?
Signs and symptoms of acne evolved either on the back, or on the face are practically the same, thus this two slighly different conditions are most of the time considered as one.
The "acne formula" is simple - more oil glands means more oil producted and that means more acne troubles.
The only difference is the bigness and high intensity of the oil glands and the back has them larger. With more of this oil of course usually means more acne developing on the skin. Also cysts are developed more therefore more cysts or severe skin lesions as nodules show up more often on this part of the body.Another aspect is the thickness of the skin that is much more thicker on the back than on the face.
Some acne stats
About 2/3 of people with facial acne have some amount of back acne.
Back acne seems to be more prevalent in men, but is confirmed in both genders.
The cause of back acne
The exact cause of acne was not yet found. We do know that maturation of the oil glands is needed. This is why we see back acne only after puberty begins.Beyond this, what causes back acne is similar to what causes facial acne. For some reason, acne prone individuals tend to overproduce skin cells inside of their pores. This overproduction of skin cells creates pore blockage. The blockage traps skin oil which creates a perfect breeding ground for acne bacteria. The proliferation of bacteria along with a build up of oil and skin cells often breaks the pore wall, signaling the body to enact its immune response. The immune response brings redness and pus into the area, and a zit is born.Acne mechanica, special back acne kind should be pointed out here. It is caused by irritation the skin on the back.Perspiration and tight-fitting clothing are two of the most common culprits, which explains why many physically active people are affected by back acne. Tight-fitting clothing such as spandex, traps perspiration against the skin, and it then mixes with surface oils. The result is a film that blocks pores and causes blemishes ranging from whiteheads to inflamed papules and pustules.Acne mechanica tends to be irritated by moisture, so if you're sweaty and combine that with the repeated rubbing that comes with your back pack, clothing, etc., that could make the problem even worse. But you just can't avoid all this things, especially chairs or clothes, righ?
But you can always follow few steps to make it better.
Try wearing breathable cotton clothing more often.
Bath again. If you stay clear, great. If not, perhaps a rucksack isn't the best choice for you.
Generally try to be aware of anything that irritates the skin of your back and make accomodations if you can.
Try to time your daily treatment (as referenced directly below) so that you can shower and treat your skin after a sweaty workout.
As far as whether strain is to guilt for your back acne, or hormones, or genetics - no one knows for sure and none of this factors were ever approved.
