About Correct Meditation and its subtle mechanics:
Part (1)
The first two things to let sink in and really grasp about the practice of transcendental meditation:
1. YOU DO IT THEN YOU FORGET ABOUT IT.
2. You do not anticipate/expect anything to come out of its practice on the thinking level of the mind.
So what is being explained and the effects that eventuate after several years of its application, happens from the basis of the unconscious level of the mind. So never imagine/anticipate anything from out of the practice of meditation. That is where the word trust comes into the equation and the word faith comes into the equation. Thus do it and forget it. In a sense, it is like brushing your teeth every night for dental hygiene likewise, you meditate for your spiritual hygiene. It would seem very odd if all the thoughts of the day were taken up with the mechanics of brushing your teeth, along with the effects that come from brushing your teeth i.e. "nice teeth". Apart from the fact you would drive everyone around you up the wall from talking about brushing your teeth all day, your teeth will eventually fall out...'cause someone will probably knock em out to shut you up...well maybe.
So once you have firmly grasped a clear understanding of implementing the mantra of correct meditation then, after its short practice, bring your attention back to the outside world and all its responsibilities. Become busy with all the necessary activity to survive in the world after each application and forget all about it. You do not have to understand the process to obtain the benefits that come out of Correct Meditation. For 99% of the population this is how it should be, because very few people are psychologically suited to study metaphysics. So understand that all the spiritual effects that come out of correct meditation, are unconsciously' and silently' acquired. So leave the imagination and your own creativity out of its silent process.
Comprehend that the physiological effects that transpire within the mind and body (out of the practice of correct meditation) are the activity of trapped residual stress locked up in the subliminal mind the nervous system and your body, slowly dissolving and producing thought activity in the process. Along with emotions that flood the mind on occasions. You learn to accept them and then ignore them and go back to mentally intoning your mantra whenever streams of thought, that is residual stress dissolving, interrupts the rhythm and pulse of your mentally intoned mantra. As a consequence, you find yourself thinking and dwelling on a particular thought instead of reciting the mantra - got it? On that basis, it is the effortless way to accomplish spiritual enlightenment.
Note: Which simply means having found your source you have located the spiritual component of life and the "why" of Creation. Along its silent path, you will dissolve all that you are not to become all that you are, therefore a normal positively functioning human being. It is important to understand that you do not have to understand the workings of the mind one little bit to accomplish this miracle. Thus you do not need to know how the process works to silently and effortlessly acquire all the benefits that come out of its practice. No super duper brilliant mind with heaps of medals attached to it is required in other words. So if you are not interested in understanding the mechanics of the mind that's fine. Leave them alone and get on with something that does interest you in life. Metaphysics is not everyone's cup of tea.
You have to be psychology suited to explore the quantum mind. We are all different and that is how God intended Creation to be. But, if we learn to innocently culture the silent abstract base of Creation into our total physiology, then we become the same in our love and respect of God and this beautiful creation on the level of that silence and, that is the key to establishing all harmony within all diversity, therefore acquiring ONE base platform to function out of with our individual thoughts, deeds and creativity. Then create what you like and do what you like within any individual or collective reality that you function out of, because then you will be functioning automatically from the integrity' of the Laws of Nature...right action is its automatic result.
To summarize: Correct Meditation is a Technique to incorporate into the daily routine and any reasonable lifestyle, so that it becomes a normal everyday habit to do automatically and naturally. You do it then you forget about it until next time.
About all these words on the subject matter: We have to establish its path and direction through words...especially for Academia, but that is the only reason for all these words about the subject matter. Because the name of the game is developing the backdrop of silence' in the mind and not words. Therefore understand the technique understand the basics and then forget all about it and get on with your life and all the beautiful things to do in it. It is a simple technique and it should be kept a simple technique and not given over to the mega mouth brigade within the media to destroy its dignity as they do with a lot of information. No, Correct Meditation is your personal contact with the Absolute Intelligence that has created Creation ...and that silent contact is very personal and should be kept that way.
Your experience that eventuates is your experience and other than discussing it with someone qualified keep it to yourself: Thus other than a casual reference with other's and friends, do not let it become a focal point for general banal discussion here, there and everywhere'. Yes, initially you need to discuss what you are experiencing, but do so with someone who is an expert, and they are not to be found within the Commercial Media and its bent for sensationalism and stirring up people's emotions to sell news by. Nor are they to be found in the commercial section of the pink pages of your telephone directory, well not yet anyway.
Clarification: Everyone is different, so therefore all experience out of the practice of transcendental meditation is different, similar maybe, but never the same. That is why it is important to discuss its early settling in period with a competent teacher so that you do get on the right path and not go making it up as you go along. There is only one correct way within Correct Meditation and that is through the guidance and long experience of a qualified teacher. Once you are firmly established along its path, then you need never go back to the teacher.
That is the blessing of regular twice daily transcendental meditation. You are beholden to none but yourself to accomplish its spiritual goal. Therefore you are your own Master along its path. Its silent practice is between you and the Absolute inactive uninvolved silent intelligence that underwrites Creation. That inactive Abstract Silent Intelligence accepts everything, from the most beautiful to the most ugly from the most tender to the most cruel. But, Divine intelligence accepts only the most tender into its active spiritual domain that sources the Laws of Nature and the Cosmic Mind.
Note: It is a tenderness that is the strongest influence in Relative Creation, for it powers Relative Creation with creativity and spiritual silent non-demonstrative love, and that love is perfect. It is a permanent anchor to all that life hurls at you in the way of traumatic experience. That gift is a natural product that comes out of the long term application of Correct Meditation. Therefore it is open to all to acquire and be able to function out of Spiritual Consciousness as a natural consequence. Then are our thoughts and desires intuitively connected with the order out of chaos' function of the self-referral Laws of Nature.
Correct Meditation: part (2)
If you can think then you can do it, is the motto of correct meditation.
Q: What does this mean?
A: It means that when you apply the sound (abstract vibration) of an intoned "mantra", it captures the thought of the thinker and acts a Taxi for the thought and takes it to a destination. The thought, kept from expanding outwards and activating the brain matter, then travels inwards and back to its source instead. Eventually becoming smaller and smaller (yet as a paradox more powerful) The thought, superimposed upon the Mantra, eventually transcends the conscious mind and into the abstract potential of the unconscious mind, leaving the practitioner in absolute silence, uninvolved with anything, in fact no recognizable experience of anything, just pure innocence, pure potential.
Note: Yet as a paradox, it is possible for the awareness to be aware of this transition of its expansion. But that specific awareness has no quality of thought within it. Thus that unusual and rare experience is outside of the ordinary physical senses of perception and the intellect to evaluate Thus, no experience of its reality lies within the thinking mind. It comes from abstract silent intelligence that is the platform for that pure individual awareness. We could call that platform the individualized speck of the Uninvolved Creator that underlies everything. But Abstract Intelligence is best as an explanation.
In a sense, we have accomplished entry into the gap between thoughts. As a consequence, we have reached the platform of our silent witness, our awareness that is uninvolved with activity. We have found our source, our speck of the creator. Or perhaps a reflection of the Creator's silence that is a latent potential to acquire within human beings. Either way, it is the platform upon which our consciousness and our thoughts are superimposed upon, albeit unknowingly. It is in fact the absolute atom that underlies the spiritual atom that in turn underlies the physical atom.
Thus we have encountered our absolute nature, which, is also the absolute nature of every particle of matter and energy in the universe. It is also the absolute atom that underlies every vibration of creative intelligence that is the substance of spiritual creation.Thus we have uncovered three "realities" that underlie totality, but not on the level of thought, but on the level of our awareness and currently undeveloped awareness. Thus we have to develop that Awareness. We develop that Awareness by fusing the Absolute component of Creation into our total physiology and that is exactly the potential that arises out of the regular application of Correct Meditation.
Clarification: Unfortunately, no experience of the above is available to the practitioner, not for many years. But the effect of that transition from thought to silent uninvolved awareness', unconsciously cultivates Absolute Intelligence into the physiology of the practitioner. Yet I repeat, no immediate experience of that miracle is left within the conscious mind, because Absolute Intelligence is Transcendent and beyond the conscious thought of the thinker to probe. That is why it is called Transcendental Meditation. Which means through applying a simple technique, we have transcended both physical and spiritual creations by using a Abstract Mantra to capture the thought of the thinker.
Explanation: In a quantum located spiritual sense, we have left thought activity behind in the process of jumping into the gap between thoughts. But don't panic, you are automatically returned to normal services, as it is part of its quantum structured process to do so. For its acquired miracle is being processed by Silent Intelligence greater that ours. Immutable intelligence that is responsible for the continuing positive evolution of human beings in particular.
Q: Why?
A: Because the human being as a physical species, is the perfection of the physical creativity of Almighty Nature, but it does makes you wonder sometimes within the strange logic of human beings.
Examples:
* We are the product of Aliens:
* It is our exclusive right to behave and do what we like on this planet in the name of acquired success, freedom of expression, progress, democracy and commercial television:
* We are all made equal and therefore have equal opportunities:
* Sexual aberration is quite normal in Nature, so let us promote and celebrate it:
* There is nothing greater in the universe than our dissolvable human intelligence:
* Nothing exists unless it is approved first by human science:
* God talks to certain privileged human beings, but not to the rest of us:
* Accumulating money, objects, self-importance, power, position, wealth, celebrity status, sports titles, I.Q. gongs and Oscars, is a sign of deferential treatment from higher intelligence, so we should all follow those so blest in society so that we may also come to be so blest.
* Equally strange logic: some self-appointed Nations, Culture's, Religions, Currency, Sport stars, Actors, Music pied-pipers, Preachers, Celebrities, Lawyers, Politicians and Commercial Television, function under God's personal approval., because in God we trust. That is why (logically) they are all successful and a winner in life, of course.
To continue with Upstairs logic:
Does all the above (excluding the last paragraph) happen within Correct Meditation? you bet your boot camp boots it does. It may only be for a millisecond that you transcend Relative Creation in its Abstract silent process but it happens. It may never be consciously realized that is what is going on, but it happens. It does not matter if you never understand what is going on within the application of correct meditation. It just happens, got the nice message? Its abstract process is being taken care of for you effortlessly, that comes from surrendering the conscious thought of the thinker. That is why no involvement with the understanding of correct meditation and its automatic process is required...it just happens.
That is where trust and faith comes into its equation, not forgetting the love of God and the word humility to go with that faith and trust. Because in truth, that is what it takes to grasp and act upon the potential of what I am talking about. Now initially, what happens outside of that millisecond that you have transcended physical and spiritual creations, forms 99.999% of that twenty minutes you have sat down to meditate. That other 99.999% of time is filled with thought activity, i.e. streams of thought and possible vague or strong emotions and even tears or other inner experience that dislodge your thought off the mantra...and we are all different with that experience and our interpretation of that experience. Thus each time that you suddenly realize that you are not intoning your mantra, but are engrossed in thoughts instead, then you gently get back in the Taxi (intoning the mantra) and start your journey again. Never assume, like science, that you have to prove that millisecond experience first for it to exist. It happens without you knowing about it.
Clarification:
1) It does takes time, patience and regular practice to master that technique of returning to the mantra after slipping off of it through being side tracked by internal experience, experience that keeps rising within the mind as it settles down.
2) That dislodgement, eventually reverses itself in proportion to the amount of residual stress that is being released at any given time within that twenty minute of inactivity.
3) That dislodgement, forms the subject matter of all those streams of thought and inner experience that often overpower the vibration of the mantra.
4) That dislodgement, causes the practitioner to then become involved with its internal activity, experience that is pockets of trapped energy locked within brain matter transposing into thought and feelings. It is merely the symptom of trapped stress dissolving.
5) We learn to master that dislodgement off the mantra in time and not become involved with that residual stress that is being released. Then we start to reverse that 99.999%, i.e. more time is spent out of the activity of thought than in it, consequently infusing more of that abstract silent intelligence into the total physiology.
6) It may take many years to experience what I am talking about. Its quantum knowledge comes to clear up all the misunderstanding that currently exists on this subject matter. It comes to clear a path through all that commercial introduced flotsam and jetsam, so that its immense potential to elevate the consciousness of mankind is clearly understood...no other reason.
Instructions:
1) A quite place in the home or garden is best (either or both) where you will not be disturbed for 20 minutes. Initially, let that place be the one that you meditate in regularly. Thus one twenty minute period in the morning and one twenty minute period in the evening, fit them into your normal daily schedule, so that they eventually become a subliminal prompted natural habit to do so.
As further comment: Do not become agitated if you cannot meditate at the same time everyday, try yes, but it does not matter whether you are late or early. Later down the track, you will be able to just sit comfortably anywhere, even in downtown rush hour New York...and that's saying something, and not be bothered by all its noise and hustle and bustle one little bit when meditating, but not now, that's later. You need tranquillity and pleasant surroundings initially, otherwise it just adds to the distraction that the mind will naturally experience in the early stages of its practice. Note, we cannot tame the automatic function/activity of the composite mind through thought and thinking about it. It requires a abstract mantra to capture the conscious thought process and take it to a transcendent destination beyond thought. That is the miracle of correct meditation and not make it up as we go along meditation.
2) Just sit comfortably on a chair, say in the bedroom or if outside, with your back against a tree for natural support in the garden. Then gently close your eyes. Think of anything you like, but pleasant thoughts of love of family, love of pet, love of God, love of Nature, love of anything is best ...if you grasp my positive drift and its karmic influence. Gently introduce the vibration of Om or Aum into those pleasant thoughts that we will pronounce as ORM, which is somewhere in the middle of those two abstract words. Then start reciting that sound within your mind. That is called intoning. You are creating a vibration' out of a specific thought from within your mind. That vibration' is the mantra. It is the perfect mantra' of the Universe, because everything in Creation is at one with that abstract vibration. That is all you need to know, nothing else about the specifics of your mantra. Keep it simple, the way to success in anything - yes?
3) Now, the duration of that mantra is its pulse. It matters little whether it is a long pulse or a short pulse initially...but to give some direction, we will give it an approximate duration of this syllable length ORMmmm...(slight pause) ORMmmm... (slight pause) ORMmmm... (slight pause) etc etc etc. If you so wish, you can say it out loud for a little while and then intone it within the mind when you have a rhythm going...what ever method you are happy with. Make this session last approximately twenty minutes. Then go about your normal daily/nightly routine and forget all about it. Do it forget it - yes?
4) For the next few days...maybe after lunch when you have your midday break, then allow an extra ten minutes afterwards to (1) read these instructions again (2) peruse the first two pages (above) on the subject matter. Now, if they are a bit hard on the indigestion, then read the following verses instead. Because the knowledge in the verses is also the knowledge in those two pages that are hard to digest. One of em is going to do the trick sooner or later. Either way, we do not want you getting indigestion after your lunch. So that alternate fix it should take care of that problem.
Transcendence
So what is this meaning to transcend one's feelings
What is there more than thought or Man's law
That can possibly make sense to one's reason
To establish this fact one must first find that
That is beyond all sense of knowing
For its process to work
One must be diligent and not shirk
From its daily incantation
In sound we have meaning
Vibratory and cleaning
That acts as a vehicle within
To initiate its thought and follow its course
The awareness is thus returning
Returning to that which is far beyond fact
For the senses of perception are stilled
So by surrendering not initiating the content of thought
The awareness is drawn to its "absolute" source
So simple its means that knows not of schemes
To complicate this perfect process
Thus one finds in time
That it is truly sublime
Just to blend in the "silence" of creation
Such is the attraction that the awareness finds satisfaction
In such a simple thing
One's being is galvanised realised and revitalised
Into always doing the right thing
So better by far you transcend to who you are
In this field' of all absolute' ascension
Then the influence you create
Is both positive and straight
With no negative or complicated inclinations
For in this field of inaction one returns with all action
That is positive uplifting and true
For the purity of this source has total recourse
To all the Laws of Creation
Then compliment your day
In an effortless way with all good natural intention
The influence you create will undoubtedly make
An enormous contribution
Contributing to that which contains all the facts
Which require no effort from you
For this natural state is the heavenly gate
The field of all possible invention
Culture this state with innocence and grace
That knows not of the Ego's domain
By drawing the "I" into the field of the "why"
One will function from the base of Creation
For 'tis something you live that connects a bridge
To the subtlety and unity of Creation
Then always you will say how blessed is this way
To stay out of all negative interaction'
For that' influence you create
Becomes part of your state
That knows not of dissipation
For in its ethereal state it retards and negates
And clings to your every action
So know that' which you weave
From concepts you conceive
Is eternal in its subtle inception
By knowing this fact stay clear from that
That motivates all negative insurrection
For this is the cause of misery and pain
In the "collective" world of Nations
And surely we must learn to effectively return
To the Bliss of our celestial connection
For the origin of strife was foreign to life
At the dawn of Nature's inception
'Tis for us to evolve and effectively dissolve
The influence from our own imperfection
This then is the way' to celestial life
Simply transcends your thought day and night
Find within this the origin of bliss'
The source of Almighty Creation.
Now that's not so bad as those other two pages is it? Thus go and do it forget it...do it forget it, do it forget it...almost like a mantra - yes?
Special point:
WE DO NOT TORTURE THE MANTRA WITH OUR THOUGHTS.Let it come gently...let it come effortlessly...let it come naturally to capture the thought that has structured it. The whole proceedure should be accomplished in gentleness...in tenderness, without any effort or strain. Yes, there is going to be teething problems...so what, who cares. "Not I said the Walrus" got it? In this abstract process, you are learning how to get in touch with your spiritual Self...the source of everything, because that transcendent source is also the source of Creation. There is only one adjective to apply to the desription of that source and its silent intelligence that begins to power your thoughts, deeds and actions...and thatis positive. Note, positive in this meaning meansthoughts, creativity and desires that support life & Nature...that compliment life & Nature, never exploits, debases or degrades it. Correct meditation develops that postive potential automatically.
Additional information.
For those who cannot sit still for more than two minutes and those unable to concentrate on a Mantra with their erratic thoughts, the following Breathing Exercise will help take care of this Attention Deficiency Disorder. A not uncommon problem that is growing worse by the minute in this Commercial Media deafened product information saturated Civilization.
The point to remember, is to persevere and make this Exercise a habit to replace the existing habit of erratic thought and a lack of concentration. Because that is what thought has become through residual stress trapped in the subliminal workings of the mind...the cause. So we create another habit to replace that habit and dissolve the Residual Stress causing the problem along the way. But, you have to persevere through the impulse to resist change to your old habit, that also comes from the unconscious (subliminal) level of the mind. In a few months, that distracting impulse will be gone and you will have solved that seemingly insurmountable problem once and for all. Repeat: the secret to its success is to persevere twice a day with the Exercise, no matter what internal distractions get in the way- got it?
Breathing Exercise:
Stage One: Sit comfortably in a chair with your eyes closed and most importantly, with back and neck straight not bent and relax. Breath in slowly and mentally count to three: Then, exhale sharply through the nose and count slowly to six, expelling all the air in your lungs in the gentle process. Breath in and continue to repeat this in/out cycle.
Stage Two: When you have this counting breathing rhythm off pat, then substitute the numbers with the universal Mantra that has been given. That means recite the Manta three times on the inward breath and recite the Mantra six times on the outward breath...mentally not verbally?
Stage 3: Continue with this Exercise for approximately twenty minutes. Then gently go back to breathing normally and focus your attention 'solely' on the Mantra and not on the breathing cycle. Carry on for a further twenty minutes with the standard meditation practice.
Explanation of Stage One & Two:
What we are doing, is superimposing the intoned Mantra on the inward and outward breathing cycle and restoring equilibrium to the Nervous System and Brain in the positive process. When this has been achieved, then it is important to go back to breathing normally. So that the inward and outward breath become uniform and slowed automatically through concentrating solely on the Mantraand nothing else. Clarification: This natural stilling of the breathing cyclealong with the senses of perception and thought, is a product that comes out of intoning the Mantra and not out of the conscious effort of thinking to make it happen. In other words, if you have to think to make Transcendence happen, then it wont happen?
Note: If you are a St Vitas Fidget Basket Case, you will find that you are constantly being distracted by other thoughts that keep crowding out the Mantra. Understand this is normal with this Attention Deficiency Disorder that has its roots in trapped residual stress and the subliminal content of the mind. So don't fight it or become frustrated by its unwanted intrusion, merely accept it as par for the course. If you gently go back to intoning the Mantra after realising these unwanted distractions, you will eventually master the duel problem you and your bad habits?
Summing Up:
The above takes time to perfect. The time taken to perfect it differs with each individual. So if it takes six months to perfect it, then it takes six months to perfect it. If it takes one week to perfect it, then it takes one week to perfect it. It is of no matter how long it takes to perfect it in other words. What does matter, is that you keep it up until you do perfect it. That Boot Camp word 'perseverance' again - got it?
Postscript:
There are many paths to God...each to their own. Therefore, no one way can be said to be the best. By the same token, some paths are a lot shorter and less arduous than other's...and a lot simpler to navigate. The path of Correct Meditation (or Transcendental Meditation) is a simple, safe, direct and silent path to take and uncover and develop our spiritual potential. Also, in the application of Mantras within spiritual evolution they are specific to the individual, i.e. not everyone uses the same Mantra.
Clarification: There are only a few mantras for Correct Meditation...but they are specific to the individual's physiology and lifestyle in particular. That is why it is really necessary to see a Rishi accredited teacher of Meditation personally for an individual Mantra...so that person to person physiological assessment is made and the appropriate mantra given. However, the use of the Universal Mantra given in this document to begin with is quite okay. But it is recommended where individual Mantra's are concerned, to contact the Transcendental Teachers of Meditation when it becomes convenient to do so and receive their live person to person instruction for the reason stated.
