subject: Watch The Best Of Clint Eastwood On Satellite Tv [print this page] Clint Eastwood is one of the most iconic American actors of all time. From the vigilante thrills of Dirty Harry to his Oscar-baiting career as a director and producer in more recent years, Eastwood has always been on top of the United States cinema scene. His films are loved today by generation of Americans as well as by people who live around the world. If you have a satellite TV connection, you are almost assured to have seen something he has been in. But, as with most actors, some Clint Eastwood movies are certainly better than others. So the next time you are browsing channels on your brand new flat screen high definition television, make sure to stop for these following movies. You will be glad that you did!
1. Unforgiven
This movie is one of Clint Eastwoods greatest triumphs, both as an actor and as a director. Eastwood plays his classic character, a stoic gunslinger from the Old West, but in this movie he plays an older man who is coming out of retirement for one last job. The movie also stars Frances Fischer (who was Eastwoods real-life lover at the time, eventually having one of his children), Gene Hackman, and Morgan Freeman. Released in 1992, the film won four Oscars in total.
2. Dirty Harry
This 1971 film catapulted Clint Eastwood into absolute superstardom. In it, he plays the San Francisco cop Harry Callahan, or Dirty Harry. This laconic and solitary cop (he was widowed after a drunk driving accident, which occurs before the start of the movie) grows tired of the bureaucracy involved in the local police department, and its inability to catch a serial killer that is terrorizing the streets of San Francisco. The scenes of the city are great to watch in high definition. This movie, the first in what would become one of the most successful franchises in movie history, produced the famous lines: youve gotta ask yourself one thing: do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk? This film is so well-loved that it plays constantly on satellite TV.
3. Million Dollar Baby
This is another film in which Clint Eastwood both directs and takes on a starring role. Million Dollar Baby features Hillary Swank as a woman who grew up in a trailer park and goes on to become a highly successful professional boxer. Some of the fights are incredible to watch in high definition: they are so gritty and brutal and realistic. Clint Eastwood plays her coach. (Spoiler alert) When she suffers a tragic accident during one of her matches, she is eventually paralyzed from the neck down, with no hope of recovery. She wants to die, but cannot do it herself because of her physical handicap. Eastwood, as her coach, eventually chooses to assist her. This movie is gripping to watch, and was controversial for its depiction of assisted suicide. It is also a prime example of Eastwood taking on the stories of women in his later career, something which distinguishes him from his earlier incantations as a the quintessential macho guy.
