There is nothing more destructive to a person's home or home life than the introduction of pests. There are a wide variety of shapes and sized that pests come in. Typically an individual would not be bothered by the activities of other creatures but the invasion of one's home is an exception to this rule. Ants, fleas, chiggers and moles are four of the major pests that affect a homeowner's life and the following will detail how to get rid of each one.

In relation to the kitchen, ants are the most common home invaders. With their incredible senses it does not take much to attract an ant scout leading to a full invasion overnight. When dealing specifically with ants simple steps can be taken as preventative measures. Regularly cleaning counters with a vinegar and water mixture or a bleach formula will help sterilize your eating area and disrupt the senses of ants.

To also help disrupt the senses of the ant, fix leaking faucets and using baking soda to line trash cans. The best way to get rid of ants when they invade is to spray them with the same concoction you use to clean the counters. This will kill the ants and help get rid of their residual trail.

Fleas are another common home invader and related to pet ownership. To get rid of fleas from pets there are chemicals available to the owner but the simplest method is to utilize a flea comb to remove them from the animal. Regular vacuuming will help reduce the flea population but make sure you vacuum into a bag and seal it immediately before the fleas have an opportunity to escape the bag. Nature gives us one of the simplest solutions to get rid of fleas. Plants that are pet friendly and detour fleas are lavender and mint. Eucalyptus is another plant that detours fleas but is known to be poisonous to dogs and cats so use with discretion.
