subject: New Rumours with regard to Activision Blizzards' Next - gen MMO [print this page]

We have been aware that Blizzard is working on a next-generation MMO for over 3 years now. Blizzard have been posting job vacancies on their website for "top secret" which later changed to "Next-Gen MMO". Our suspicions were confirmed when Jeffrey Kaplan, the lead developer of World of Warcraft, announced that he was leaving to work on the new game.

Assumedly Blizzards next-gen mmo will be a Sci-Fi fps.

Starcraft Ghost was a aggressive science fiction stealth-action video game being produced by Blizzard Entertainment that was supposedly put on hold over 5 years ago, although Blizzard never gave an official press release that development had closed. It is now seemingly likely that they are really continuing development, although it is not likely that it will be out on consoles this time round, as was their initial plan.

Gaming news sites all over the net have gone ballistic over the rumours, producing as much information about Blizzards Next-Gen MMO as they can muster.

As supposed by the rumours, each avatar in the game follows two individual lives. The first life being similar to that of Sims Online, a social/lifestyle type of thing. The other life is where the battles happen. Blizzard have not made any official press releases yet about the rumours, and the game stays "top secret". What Blizzard has declared is that the game will not be in direct competition with World of Warcraft, and will appeal to a broader audience. A Sci-Fi fps definately meets these rules.

What we do know, is that in standard Blizzard style, when they have something to present to us it shall blow us all away. In Blizzard COO, Paul Sams' words, they are going to "create a game experience unlike anything done before"
