If you are fortunate to have a family a lifelong mate and kids, you must know the responsibility you have as a parent to develop in each child a family culture that will be the seed for the development of the future generation(s) to follow.
This includes good manners, kindness to others, love for each other, generosity, honesty, God's place in their lives, and many other positive attributes. But it's also important to include having just plain fun with the family as one of those important attributes!
In our family, we try to at least once a year to gather everyone (grandchildren, etc) together for an evening of entertainment. This includes having a "Showtime" where each one can share an experience they've had or some form of entertainment reading a short story; singing a song or playing band and orchestra instruments; or even just being silly so we can laugh and see the human side of each other.
This is something we have done for many years now, and having videoed those times, now look back at the kids in wonder, when they were younger and so surprisingly talented in their own special way!
Even the older kids and adults have amazed us singing along with a bongo drum or playing a stirring tune on the C Flute. Unknown talent from childhood!
These times together have created bonds within our family that shall always be remembered! And, of course that "fun time" includes enjoying the entertainment of musical skits and presentations by family members in their own unique way.
So, developing positive traits in our family culture is essential in raising our kids, but so is having fun too!
