Any College or Professional Football Coach knows the importance of winning. By simply using the Checkerboard Coaching Technique sm you will win more. If you fully implement it to the full strength of your imagination, you will win every time or close to it. We all know what a checkerboard is. To start take the imaginary board you have and fill each space with the portion of your game you want to improve or analyze. After your board is filled with as many spaces as you care to fill, chose the 20 percent of those items that are the most critical to your performance and place them in sequence from most important to least. Now take the most important or first on the list and ask yourself what is the most effective 20 percent aspect of your performance. Understand that area and expand it. Expand the opportunity to use it next in the game as you now recognize what it is.
I have one real life practical application from a college football coach in the MAC conference. They had lost every game of the season and I contacted the coach and asked if I could detail the Checkerborad Coaching Technique smwith one simple example. To my amazement he agreed to meet with me in his office. I started with one very clear example after we sat down and introduced ourselves, his offensive plays for the next game. Iasked him to take all of the offensive plays he ran all season, and place them on a list top to bottom from most yards gained to least. For this next game run only the plays that accounted for 80% of all the offensive yards gained throughout the first eight games so far playedin the game plan.
His comment was the players that had those big plays will love that. That was a good point and is the point really.
