The 14th IASTED International Conference on Computers and Advanced Technology in Education will be held on July 11 13, 2011, in the historic city of Cambridge, England
This year's Chairman of the Education conference is Dr. Vladimir Uskov, Professor of Computer Science and Information Systems, and Co-Director of The InterLabs Research Institute at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, USA. Dr. Uskov's research interests include Web-Based Education, Online Education, Web-Lecturing Technology, IT Education and Portal Technology.
The Education conference is truly an international gathering, with representatives from over 30 countries, and researchers across a wide range of disciplines derived from technology-based education, software systems for teaching and learning, and virtual scientific laboratories. This year the conference has many international collaborating agencies, including The International Society for Engineering Education (Switzerland), Council of Researches and Education (Brazil), Tsyolkovsky Moscow Aviation Technological University, The Japan Society for Information and System in Education, and other groups from Poland, Estonia, Greece, Romania and the United States.
The 2011 Education Conference topics and keynote speakers have not been chosen, but the recent August 2010 Education Conference in Hawaii had two keynote speeches. These were:
"A Framework for e-Learning 2.0 and its Primary Functions" given by Dr. Toshio Okamoto, President, Japanese Society for Information and Systems on Education and Director of the E-Learning Center, University of Electro-Communications, Japan; and "Classroom, Ubiquitous, and Mobile Advanced Technologies to Enhance Learning", presented by Prof. Hitoshi Miyata, Director of the Center for Educational Research and Practice at Japan's Shiga University.

An exciting feature of the 2011 Education Conference will be the International Competitions. This year there are two categories of competition. The first is the 10th International Competition of Ph.D. Students on Research in a Technology-based Education Area, and the second is the 7th International Competition of Non-Commercial Software Systems, Tools and Products for Technology-based Education.
Special Education Conference Awards will also be given, in three distinct categories. These include the CATE 2011 Best Paper Award, the CATE 2011 Best Ph.D. Student Award, and the CATE 2011 Best Software System Award.
