In The Car With Granny

A breakdown company have released information of a poll that they have conducted, to find out about children's preferences whilst in the car. They polled twelve hundred and seventy nine children, and found that sixty percent would be happier when a female relative, like their granny, was driving, as opposed to their dad or granddad. The children, aged five to sixteen, were asked questions about speed and calmness, and the results stated that eighty three percent of them felt that their male relatives drove at speeds that were too high, with sixty percent feeling more relaxed when driving in the car with their granny.

Thirty five percent of children stated that they felt nervous when their dad lost his temper when driving, and the survey revealed that male relatives are more likely to weave in and out of the traffic, and changing lanes to avoid getting stuck in jams. Road rage was also prevalent.

The children felt on the whole that their grannies were the better drivers, being less likely to suffer from road rage, stay in the lane in traffic and have nicer cars, according to their children. The children also felt more reassured, with seventy percent saying their grandmas sang to them when driving, and fifty two percent saying they talked to them to keep them entertained on the ride. The children also felt that their nans were safer. Some car insurance companies only offer insurance to women, perhaps another point to emphasise the thought that women drivers are safer than men.
