subject: Ironman Games [print this page]

A search on Google for Ironman games brought up lots of material. For example, there are the official games based on the movie where you can don the Iron Man suit and actually go flying around saving the world from bad guys.

You can use the suit to shoot fire, missiles and repulsor beams just like in the movie and of course you can fly and hover. Similarly to the movie, the game also has a limited power supply and if you use it up, you die. Okay, but for those who want something a little bit different, I actually found an Iron Man dress up game.

Believe it or not, you can actually redress Robert Downey Jr., the Iron Man himself in any way that you like. You will be able to actually change the color and design of the suit that the Iron Man wears.

The suit comes in a variety of colors and with a variety of different types of weapons built in, presumably based on knowledge gleaned from the various iterations of the suit in the original Marvel comics (did you know that in the comics, Iron Man is able to carry his suit inside of a briefcase - now that's some job of miniaturization, eh?).

The game starts with Iron man in the buff, but parents, not to worry. This is actually a cartoon visualization of Iron Man and a non anatomically correct version at that. There is nothing to see but the most basic torso (sorry, I kind of lied when I said you would actually dress up Robert Downey Jr, but hey, a girl can dream can't she?).

Once you get the Iron Man dressed up in this Ironman game, there is unfortunately not much else to do. The game does let you keep switching out different types of suits of armor and different colors and weapons, but then that's it.

You don't get to go flying the suit around and stopping bad guys. It definitely seems to be aimed at young girls who like to play dress up with Ken dolls and figure Robert Downy Jr. would make an awesome Ken doll.

If dress up isn't your thing, there are other Ironman games available on the net. There are games where you can actually play Ironman, going off to fight the bad guys, though the graphics tend to be somewhat more limited than what you could get in the actual movie game. Still, if you don't have a game console, it's a possibility at least.
