Get involved in student life
There is nothing worse than stay in the room and recollect school life. College provides a lot of social and athletic groups, multiple activities for active, energetic students. Do not stay outside, get involved and participate. Even if a student does not want to take part in some competitions, there are always the places for spectators. Support college athletic teams, attend concerts and so on.
Find new friends
College friendship is the best thing to avoid homesickness. Go out with friends, play some games, socialize. There is no better way to distract from grave thoughts than to eat some ice-cream or drink coffee with friends. If a student has some difficulties in meeting friends, he should try the following variants:
1.Socializing on campus with neighbors;
2.Make friends with roommates;
3.Going out with course mates;
4.Communicating with people who share the same views and interests.
Keeping in touch with family
If nothing helps, a student should not be discouraged. It is completely normal to miss family life. Calls, e-mails or regular letters may prevent a student from feeling lonely. It is also advisable to get pictures of relatives on the laptop or printed. Students always should remember that college does not separate them from family but makes them more independent.
