Every one of the dolls have unique traits which resemble a parent: stitches for Frankie Stein, fangs and ears for Clawdeen Wolf, and fins for Lagoona Blue. Each doll comes with a pet: a Neptuna pet goldfish for Lagoona Blue, a Count Fabulous pet bat for Draculaura, a Watzit pet for Frankie Stein, a Crescent pet cat for Clawdeen, a Hissette pet snake for Cleo De Nile, and a Perseus pet rat for Deuce Gorgon.
Because the figures have small pets as friends, tiny accessories and arms that you can pull off(yes, you can pull them off; they wouldn't be a cool monster doll if they didn't!ages six and above would be the recommendation. The hands and arms are removable which makes them a cool toy and it makes it easier to dress the dolls.
The Monster High line has other exciting toys and things to play with. Mattel has designed a plush stuffed version of the Monster High Doll Set and created a website totally devoted to Monster High. It has each doll's biography, music to download, games, and 15 webisodes to view. The Monster High Website consists of more characters such as Holt Hyde and Jackson Jekyll. It is expected they will also become part of the toy line in the near future.
