subject: Why Living In The Land Of The Free Is Costing Us Out Religion [print this page]

In America, the Land of the Free, any more these days less and less people are attending churches. It would seem awkward that in a land where there is freedom of speech and freedom of religion that so many people would elect not to go to church at all. It seems counter intuitive that people would decline what once people use to be willing to die for?

The very founders of this country, even before the constitution came to this country in hopes of fleeing the tyrannical powers of Europe and come to a place where they could worship God with out fear. There were many people being put to death in Europe for their religious views being contrary to the main stream religions so they fled in hopes of a land where they could worship freely.

The proof of this is in Jamestown where the settlers first started their little city. That city still stands and if you take a tour of it they will tell you the story of the oldest known European building built here in America. Thats right you guessed it, it is a church.

They used to believe that the church was the most important part of life so they built the church, and then built their houses surrounding the building.

It is a shock for most people to hear that these days in America, because we are so far out of touch with God. We have forgotten our sources of blessings in this country in the pursuit of happiness. People are so obsessed with entertainment; they have forgotten what once people in the country so dearly treasured.

Our freedom of speech has allowed us to speak so freely against the church, but the church is less free to talk about religion then ever. What has happened to this nation?
