Educating the next generation
Educating the next generation

In schools and colleges up and down the UK there is the next Richard Branson or Peter Jones ready and waiting to revolutionise the market. These type of students need to be given the right support from those teachers and lecturers that have a wide range of knowledge about various subjects and passed on so they can formulate their own ideas and solutions.

The quality of education that is offered by schools, colleges and universities up and down the country varies and although the education system has taken a bit of a battering as of late, there are still many educational facilities that are providing a high level of education to all their students. With many students unsure of whether they are going to university, lecturers and teachers should be pushing those that are more than capable to ensure they end up going to university.

Further education is important for the UK economy as by educating the next generation of businessmen and leaders the top companies in the UK will have someone that can help grow their company. Teachers who may have been teaching at primary and secondary schools but looking to move into university lecturing need to consider the change that will be visible if they do. Class sizes at primary and secondary schools are usually around 30 students but by looking to become a lecturer you are looking at lecture halls that hold potentially 150 people.

Lecturing in universities is not an easy job as you must be able to throw your voice as well as keep everyone in the lecture hall interested and involved. The best lecture are those that encourage the students to answer questions as this creates a good atmosphere and keeps everyone's attention on the matter at hand. Lectures that involve the lecturer simply giving a talk about a subject then leaving, rarely have any impact on the students as this means a waste of time for everyone involved.

If you, as a teacher would like a change of direction then make sure you fully understand what is being offered as there are many different paths a teacher can take. At the end of the day, your job is nurture a student's path to success and passing on the knowledge you have learnt is an important part of it all. Whether you want to teach in schools or universities make sure you make the most of the opportunity and encourage students to make the most of theirs.
