subject: Tips For Self Motivation - How To Be Self Disciplined In All Areas Of Your Life [print this page]

Have you ever wondered why fitness clubs can have unlimited memberships with limited square footage? The reason why is because most of us SUCK! We have no discipline or will power to finish what we have started. How many "new year's resolutions" have your broken? Lacking discipline is a character flaw, but thankfully it is one which can be corrected. I am living proof of that. I used to be extremely undisciplined. Now I have life down to a science. Here are some of the ways that I learned to be more disciplined.

Bite sized pieces are the best way to devour your goals. "How do you eat an elephant?" asked the wise man "one bite at a time." Learn to take little steps towards your goals every single day. When you mark things off a task list you will find you enjoy getting them done. Don't try to climb Mt. Everest; just try to make it over today's hill.

Keep your eyes on the prize. Remember the reason you are pushing yourself is... (fill in the blank). Keep that image in your mind, visualize yourself skinnier, wealthier, with more freedom, deeper in love with your spouse. The more you see the image of success in your mind the more you are likely to head in that direction. Write your goals down, and hang them where you can see them. Take this list and hang it in different places every week or so, so that you don't start ignoring it.

Stop living in an instant, gotta have it, microwave world. By this I don't mean to pawn shop your microwave. I mean stop living for instant gratification in life. One donut, one lazy day, or one flirt with a co-worker can be enough to totally throw you off track. Live for the future goals you have set and not for the sugary sweetness of instant gratification that will only leave you with a tummy ache.

If you want to be more disciplined, then it is within your grasp. I am an example of a person who used to be very undisciplined. If you want to become focused and disciplined use these techniques. When a person lacks focus and discipline it is a problem with their character, fix it in your life and your life will greatly improve. It takes a little time and a little bit of effort, but anyone can become more disciplined in their life. I can tell you first hand that when you get discipline you will be able to accomplish so much more and feel so much better about yourself.
