Introducing Kinect for Xbox 360

Kinect for your Xbox 360 has arrived today, bringing in a new era of motion controlled video gaming. Kinect uses multiple cameras and microphones to give users to play games while using movement of their body and with voice commands - no controller necessary!

The Kinect sensor uses infrared technology to generate a 3D model of one's body enabling more realistic interactivity than has been seen before, all with no need for a controller or strapping hardware to your body.

Kinect also allows users to access the Xbox Live Marketplace to rent and purchase movies, watch football and soccer on demand from ESPN3, and stream music from Last.fm, with no need for your controller.

The Xbox 360 system Kinect can be purchased November 4 for $149.99, and is included with the game Kinect Adventures. For those lacking an Xbox 360 console, you can find Kinect bundles to select from. In addition to the included Kinect Adventures, there are more than 10 video game titles available at launch, with additional scheduled to be released by the holiday season.

Already developers are working on innovative games for release on Kinect. As a result of capabilities of the Kinect sensor it makes it a good candidate for fitness games, promising to get gamers off of the couch and burning calories by being more active. Several fitness games are on hand at launch, like Your Shape Fitness Evolved and The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout. Dance Rhythm video games are also making their way to the Kinect, letting the whole body get into the action, in lieu of just using a dance mat. Dance Central and Dance Masters are available at launch, while more, such as The Michael Jackson Experience, are scheduled being released at the start of the new year.
