The HTC Desire Z features easy messaging and email features combining multiple email accounts together with colour coding to keep your emails organised. Integrated social networks such as Facebook and Twitter are also present including Friend Stream and People combining contact information with social network updates.

The phone features a 5 megapixel camera with flash, auto focus and face detection software. It allows you to record videos in High Definition also, at 720 pixel resolution respectively. Videos and photos can be viewed back both on the handset, with the preloaded Gallery application, and also through the DLNA connectivity which allows you to view them on a compatible HD television, laptop or other device, for a bigger view of your HD videos. Media can also be shared instantly with the integrated social networks, the integrated Flickr photo sharing, YouTube for video sharing or simple through multimedia messaging or email.

The Desire Z runs the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system which is combined with the HTC Sense user interface to provides an intuitive experience offering fast performance and multiple applications running at once, partly due also to the phones hardware. The handset features an 800 megahertz Qualcomm processor in addition to 512 megabytes of random access memory (RAM) and has internal storage of 1.5 gigabytes, alongside a microSD card slot for expandable storage also present. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 2.1 (with enhanced data rate) for fast file sharing wirelessly, a microUSB connector for PC syncing and a 3.5mm audio connector for headphones. Wireless stereo is also supported through the Bluetooth A2DP profile, in addition to its file sharing profiles.

The handset has an internal GPS antenna allowing it to offer location based services through the preinstalled Locations and Maps applications respectively. The Maps app offers instant maps onscreen, with no waiting to load, and no dead spots; while Locations offers local points of interest and current location information, to help you on your way. Other location based services are provided through the integrated social networks with Facebook Places allowing you to check in with your current location, and share with friends as well as use it to find where friends are.

The HTC Desire Z is a stylish handset featuring both a slide out Qwerty keyboard and onscreen keypads for a fully accessible handset, and fast text input when replying to messages, sending emails and more. In addition to this, it also offers a powerful camera for images and HD videos, and a wealth of preloaded apps.
