subject: Choose To Live, Dwell And Abide In THE VINE – Part 2 [print this page] Choose To Live, Dwell And Abide In THE VINE Part 2
We already know that when we abide in The Vine, Jesus Christ, we will produce fruit for His kingdom. Fruit represents good works, soul-winning, our eternal rewards and the building of God's Kingdom. Also our character and attitude, not our own agenda, glorify God.
We bear inner fruit when we allow God to nurture Christ-like qualities in us. This entails having the Fruit of the Spirit, namely, love, peace, joy, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. We bear outward fruit when we allow God to work through us to bring Him glory. This will include sharing our faith with others and winning souls for His Kingdom.
We cannot bear fruit by ourselves, unless we remain in the VINE, Jesus Christ. If you have fallen or just settled for living beneath your potential, God will not throw you away because you are too valuable to Him. He will lift you up, cleanse you and help you to flourish again, so that you can start bearing fruit for His Kingdom.
Our Lord Jesus, THE VINE, told His disciples a few times to abide in Him because He knew that they would be called upon to produce enough fruit to cover the world. He wanted them to have more of Him in their lives. The bible tells us in John 15:6, "If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned."
It would be a great shame for one to be seen as withered or worthless. It is not advisable to spend our lives on worthless things but to accept God's discipline. His Word tells us in Hebrews 12:11, "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." God is after fruit, by disciplining us and He will do whatever it takes to get it, for His glory.
We need to stay close to God to draw spiritual nourishment from Him each day. If you allow the power that flows through Him to flow through you, you will reach the abundant life Jesus promised. If you live, dwell and abide in Jesus, THE VINE, and obey His commands, you may request whatever you require, in accordance with His will, and it will be granted.
God loves us unconditionally and He wants us to live within His love, by obeying Him. Our cup will be filled with His joy and will overflow to others. When you feed on God's Word with the desire of getting to know Him more, it changes everything. You are on the road to maturity when your goal in bible reading moves from information to personal intimacy in the Lord.
If your life bears a lot of fruit, God will invite you to abide more deeply in Him. If you stay closely connected to Him, you will enjoy the most rewarding friendship with the Almighty God. As we are helpless to bear much fruit alone, there is no other option, but to abide permanently in Jesus.
In abiding, you seek, long for, thirst for, see, know, love and respond to Jesus. More abiding means more of God in your life, activities, thoughts and desires. And He will abide in you even more than you want to abide in Him. If you really abide in His love, you will feel so nourished that you would rush back to Him whenever you could. PEACE
