I did not know that Sumatra has bantam type. As, I know most Sumatra chicken is a normal size chicken. It is a descendant of Gallus Bankiva or red jungle fowl. The performance is not different with the ancestors. It has long tail that touch the land or long flowing tail. The cock is red partridge color and the hen is red or black color. It has single comb. Some bird is good singer that is why people care it as ornamental bird; but, some chicken is pit fowl or fighting cock.
I found the sumatra bantam is different with sumatra fowl. It is black and green color. Some cock has multiple spurs. All of body color is black. The bantam can fly too so you have better keep the chicken at pen.
The comb of the chicken is pea.It is similar with Java or Kedu Chicken. Some Indonesian people believe that the black chicken can cure any disease that is caused by black magic. Certainly, I do not believe it.
The cock is 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs) in weight, and the hen is 2 kg (4.4 lbs) in weight. Considering its size, the chicken is not bantam. Most bantam weight is only less than a kilogram (2.2 lbs).
It is a prolific layer too. The egg color is white. The female will hatch the eggs. The percentage of hatching is around 100%.
Some website does not know the ancestor of the bird. I guess the ancestor is Sumatra chicken and Java. The breeder has domesticated crossbreed Sumatra chicken and Java. Off course, the scientist should test my guess.
