The best thing to be said for prescription medications is that they involve a trip to the doctor who will first confirm that you actually have a yeast infection. In some cases prescription anti-fungal medications may be the only effective cause of treatment.

If a typical diaper rash doesn't clear up after two days of treatment, then you should consult your pediatrician to determine if your toddler may be suffering from a yeast infection. Yeast infections in toddler than go untreated can cause severe discomfort.

If you are using over the counter or herbal products to treat your yeast infection you should tell your doctor because some remedies may have adverse reactions when used in conjunction with prescription medications. Most prefer natural products for yeast infections.
