Snow ice foot traction ,Yaktrax Pro Traction Cleats for Snow and Ice

Yaktrax's are unbeatable. They give the greatest traction in all icy conditions. I run a high mountain camp and have tried many ice traction devises. In icy conditions, CAUTION, is always the most important factor, no matter what the devise. In walking indoors all devises can be hazardous, it depends on the care you use while walking. My staff and I have used Yaktrax's for years. For inside staff, regular Yaktrax's are the best.

Bought 2 pairs for my walking partner and self. They are awesome! We tried cheaper versions last winter and spent most of the time trying to keep them on our shoes. The YAKTRAX pro has a strap over the toes helps keep them in place. We walk on ice, snow, shoveled walks, streets and they keep you from slipping. Be careful on tile or flooring in your house - then they are slippery. One of us had shoes with an opening in the sole that created a pocket for snow build up - once the shoes were changed to a flatter bottom - no more build up. I love them and considering the cost of an injury without them think they are well worth the money.

They put them on to walk from their cabin or car to the office and pop them off once inside. For my outside staff, the Yaktrax Pro's can't be beat. They are rugged and don't ware out. The strap over the front of the boot keeps them in place in most situations. When coming inside it is best and easiest to slip the boots off and to step into indoor shoes. For long Life - take a little time - when putting "Trax's" on, make sure they slip into the grooves in the soles of the boots and if the end of a spring starts to catch, use a pair of pliers to squeeze it back into place. The Yaktrax Pro's I have on now have lasted me for three years and counting.

When I first got these in mixed conditions they worked fine, but as soon as the snow/ice turned to solid ice I kept slipping and sliding. Have been told that the cleat-type grippers work better and am going to try either Stabilicers or GripOns. I walk up and down a small hill daily and despite the top velcro strap they would come off the toe. Also, just 2 months into the winter season one of the rubber straps broke. They're lightweight, but overall, not recommended.
