subject: Dynamics Gp And International Corporate Erp Market Short Notes [print this page]

It is common scenario, when the growing company with Microsoft Dynamics GP as Headquarters Corporate ERP plans to expand internationally and faces the dilemma on which Accounting platform to deploy for overseas subsidiary. The temptation is obvious to push Great Plains Dynamics internationally for all the subdivisions. However, you should understand the nuances of Corporate ERP localization for the targeted country or region. International business is not something self-apparent and you should expect underwater rocks to discover and even experience down the road. Technically you may deploy Dynamics GP for all the subsidiaries in the USA and Worldwide, following the software licenses guidelines if you host all your company databases on the same SQL Server in your Headquarters, then you can just resolve the issue with concurrent Dynamics GP users. However the ERP localization will give you a lot of headaches. Lets review Corporate ERP localization and the options you have internationally:

1.ERP localization. It includes two aspects: local language support and compliance to local country business legislation (tax, customs codes, annual reporting to the government, state or province). By its technology limitation Great Plains Dexterity doesnt support Unicode based alphabets (usually here you think about hieroglyphs: Chinese, Japanese, Korean). There are some options to make Dynamics GP Chinese language friendly (NJ Star utilities, Crystal Reports with Chinese custom table data pulling). But the second aspect, compliance to the business legislation is really the impediment, as you do not expect generic accounting package to support Brazilian or Russian specific

2.Spanish speaking Latin America. Here historically Great Plains Dynamics and current Microsoft Dynamics GP are localized. You may still expect some needs in compliance, but Great Plains is relatively safe to pick and implement as your new Corporate ERP. Please, be aware, that in Brazil (this is not technically Latin America as in Brazil they speak Brazilian Portuguese) Dynamics GP is not localized currently (and probably in foreseeable future). Microsoft Business Solutions in Sao Paulo promotes Dynamics AX (formerly known as Axapta)

3.ASCII Table and International Alphabets. Historically Great Plains Dexterity was programmed in C coding language, where in time Unicode and UTF-8 was not yet introduced and supported. However, most of the World alphabets are ASCII compliant (where characters could be coded in 256 combinations), including English, French, German, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese. We can translate Dynamics GP for ASCII compliant language, but the localization is not complete as tax compliance would be out of the scope

4.We are moving to China and this decision is already made, what would you recommend? In our opinion Chinese Corporate ERP market is not stable at this time. We would like to recommend you to look at Chinese versions of Microsoft AX Axapta and SAP Business One

5.There are multiple USA Corporations who are going to outsource manufacturing operations to China, India, Vietnam, Thailand, or other South East Asian country. If you are from this poll, we recommend you to review your home country business legislation (except if you are in China or India or another regional power) and pick Corporate ERP appropriately. Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, English speaking Oceania (Pacific ream countries) are probably good candidates for Microsoft Dynamics GP English USA version implementation

6.Expanding to Russia. In Russia business climate is very regulated by RF (Russian Federation) government. However the profitability could be really high. If you like us to help penetrate to the RF Corporate ERP market, let us know
