How to make an attractive product label

So your product is just about to hit the shelves, but if you are entering a market where there is already a lot of competition you may be struggling to find ways in which you can make your product stand out on the shelf. It is easy, the quickest way to draw potential customers towards your item is to have an attractive product label.

There are a number of ways you can make your label stand out on the shelf. You want it to be eye catching and draw attention to the product, without it being over the top. The colours on your label are without doubt the most important thing because colour will always attract people. Ideally, you want to use a colour thats different to your rivals' so you can distinguish yourself from them, having said that sometime using similar colours to that of a leading rival can help you get more customers, but don't make it too similar or you could be forced to change your label design.

If you haven't already, make sure your product name is one that rings in a person's ears. People usually remember a product because of the brand's name, not because of product's quality so you want a name that is catch and easy to remember. Usually, a one word name which only lasts around 2-3 syllables is best, but it should link to your company and be related to the field or product you are selling.

Along with the product name, you need a memorable slogan and an easily identifiable logo. Slogans are an effective way of making someone remember a product, a slogan which gets stuck in peoples minds are best as they give your product that instant recall. Logo's are a must on a product label as it identifies your brand, new customers that have been recommended your product are more likely to recognise you logo than your product name, it is a great way of drawing customers in simply using your attractive label.
