subject: Hit Longer Golf Drives - A Good Key to Golf Distance is to Stay Relaxed [print this page]

There are a number of things to consider when trying to hit longer golf drives. On the golf course, a big key to golf distance that most people have trouble with involves staying focused. They're a number of ways a person can get sidetracked while playing on the course. Bad tee shots, and bad putts are just a few things that can keep your mind off the game. These things can all and up in a bad golf swing which just fuels the fire. Here are some ways that I keep my head in the game while playing. Blank Out My Mind One of the methods I use involves trying to blank out my mind. I know this sounds strange, but try to think of nothing when you step to the ball. This helps by keeping your mind focused on your swing and nothing else. It keeps everything mechanical, and less of a mental game. Once golf becomes a mental game, it can all go downhill. Just relax and let the club do the work for you. Once you get that idea in your mind, the game becomes much simpler. Take Time to Stretch Another thing I like to do after I hit a bad shot, is take my time and stretch before my next shot. This helps me relax my body which results in a smoother swing. It also helps me by giving my mind something to focus on, and not on the previous shot. Stretching also helps relax your swing, which creates more flexibility. This can help create torque in your swing, which can generate more power, which results in more distance.
