It is a hurried Monday morning and as usual, you are running late. The coffee is too hot yet yesterday morning you could not get it to be hot enough, the toast is burnt and no, you cannot eat the hot dogs straight out of the freezer. Instead of being alarmed at the time, you have wasted trying to cool the coffee and heat the hot dogs take a minute and look around you at the technological advancements appliances have made in the recent past.
In yester year, you would probably have to grind the coffee yourself for the morning cup and if you wanted a slice of fresh hot toast then you would probably need to be quite skillful at handling a pan and some hot oil. Hot dogs? Well a session at the butchers to get them hot off the press would be the best option. In today's world the kitchen appliances have made things so much easier but in one way or another they still manage to frustrate us when we least expect them to. Take the coffee pot as an example. On a lazy Sunday morning, it works just fine and the coffee is piping hot and in the right combination for the morning. When it comes to Monday or even Thursday morning, that is another issue altogether.
The toaster never acts up unless you have got that all important meeting with the share holders then it goes on a well deserved vacation. Then there is the fridge with its all encompassing freezer section. It is great for those ice 'lollies' and popsicles and every other thing that may need to be frozen to prevent it from going bad but when it is in collusion with the toaster to keep the hot dogs frozen so you cannot have your breakfast then you know you are in trouble. It is great for the smoothie on a beautiful Saturday afternoon as it allows you to be healthier by taking all the fruits you find in the cooling section of the fridge and straining its blades to the maximum. It is a quick solution for the morning's beverages and even a little something for lunch.
The only friend that is on your side for now is the microwave. It lets you get away with everything from thawing all the way to cooking and it will never let you down no matter what the time of day or night. It should however be used with microwave friendly gadgets to avoid the delicate cutlery from being destroyed, but this is one of the kitchen appliances you can count on for years to come. Many kitchen appliances in the market make life easier and faster and the brands to choose from are just as many. The only thing to remember is that on a dull and hectic Monday they may collude to make sure that as you start the week you are as frazzled as possible but either way you cannot do without them.
