Today, there have been much technological advancements that enabled us to take advantage and maximize the usage of the internet. One of the most common uses of the internet is to send and receive messages through e-mails. Others use the internet for entertainment purposes such as streaming videos and playing online games. Internet has also have been a place for social networking.

The internet actually has a lot of uses. The possibilities of integrating the internet with other technology are actually virtually limitless. But what if we implement the internet to automate our own homes? This is possible; in fact a lot of families are now taking advantage of the internet by setting up a remote camera so that they can monitor their homes even if they are away from it. Through this, they will know if somebody who is unauthorized tries to enter the house.

We can also use the internet to send commands to automated lighting systems at home. The owner sends a command via the internet to a system at home which is actually connected to the internet as well. One advantage of this is to turn the lights on while you are gone. This is recommended to somehow let others know that there is somebody at home. Burglars would then think twice if they would rob your house or not because they think that somebody is home.

Using the internet as an automation tool is a good thing especially nowadays wherein almost everything we see involves the internet. From the city library to online shops internet can be seen. It does not necessarily mean that you need a computer for you to be able to access the internet, as a matter of fact, you can access the internet if you have an internet-capable mobile phone.
