Good Toothbrush but breaks too often
I purchased this toothbrush in early 2009. It is my first electric toothbush, and now I can never go back to a manual toothbrush. It is much more convenient and easy to use than a manual toothbrush and provides far better results.
The one issue with this toothbrush is that it isn't very reliable long-term. The original broke after 9 months, and the replacement just broke as well. Thankfully, Philips customer support is pretty good. They ship a replacement toothbrush to you within a few days rather than requiring you to first ship in your broken toothbrush.
As long as Philips continues to provide a two year warranty, I would buy this toothbrush again.

Broke after 2 years
I paid $189 for the Sonicare Flexcare in November 2007. Now it buzzes horribly and stops when touched to the teeth. I contacted Sonicare and was told it is warranteed for 2 years. And Sonicare only expect their toothbrushes to last 3 to 5 years (less than 3 years for me).
Our first electric toothbrush lasted 10 years.
If you want to spend a lot of money on a bad product, get a Sonicare!

great toothbrush
have used sonicare in the past, and bought them for my family and friends for birthdays and holidays... have been told it is the best gift i've given. after 5+ yrs of using my old one every day, the battery finally stopped taking a charge so i looked at all the new models and chose this one because i thought the new UV cleaner is a nice feature. i have really enjoyed using this since it arrived, my older model did not have any of the features on the handle so i am not too sure how to use them, or rather - what the differences are in the actual brushing... but even without knowing how to use those features, right out of the box (and after a charge) it works great. i would recommend sonicare toothbrushes to everyone.

Bought as a Gift
I bought this as a wedding gift for some friends, and they've told me that it's worked out very well for them! The only down sides that I've heard: if you turn the toothbrush on either free of your mouth, or if you happen to open your mouth while brushing, it has a tendency to splatter - but that makes sense considering the motion the brush takes. Secondly, it's a bit loud, but again, this seems to make sense considering what the brush is doing.
Overall, it sounds like a great tool :)!
