An overview of the new iPhone 4

For fans of the iPhone, the wait is almost over with the iPhone 4 about thit stores. The revamped designed along with some improvements which are truly stunning look to propel this handset to mega stardom.

High Definition video recording is one of the stand out features of this new model. Capturing footage at 720P resolution and cramming in a very high thirty frames per second, the results as you would expect are outstanding. The choice of either a 16GB or 32GB model gives the user plenty of option with regards to storage, with fans of HD video probably choosing the higher spec model thanks to the huge capacity such footage takes up. A tap to focus facility ensures that either you film or photos need never to look out of focus. The still shot facility can take an image at a 5 mega pixel resolution. The phone takes advantage of global positioning to allow for geo tagging of pictures and an LED flash means that even when lighting condition are not ideal, there is no excuse for your picture not to look clear. The familiar camera roll feature can still be found on the iPhone 4, so to view your snaps simply swiping your finger across the screen flicks you to the next picture, and this looks better than ever thanks to the superb quality screen, but more on that later. As you would expect from the makers of the iPod, music facilities are unrivalled. The excellent itunes can be accessed from either the handset or your home pc for downloading your favourite tracks. A huge range of playback formats are supported including MP3, AAC and newer high quality formats such as Apple Lossless. The 3.5mm stereo headphone jack keeps its place, meaning the user can choose what headphone they wish to listen to their tracks on.

The iPhone 4 includes the best display currently available in the form of its "Retina Display", so called because the phones spec actually exceeds what the human eye can see. Displaying an incredible 960 x 640 resolution at 326 pixels per inch, the result is high quality web pages and crystal clear photographs, even when zoomed in resolution is maintained without jagged edges appearing. The screen also boasts a higher contrast ratio than previous models, resulting in a wider range of colours. The glass screen is chemically coated, improving the resistance to scratches as well as the overall durability. This same glass is actually used on the rear of the handset too, helping the device maintain its stunning looks in this age of ever increasing contract lengths. The device itself is similar in dimensions to the 3GS, just a littler slimmer and narrower, thanks to the famous pebble design being replaced with flatter, more striking edges. The iPhone 4 is perhaps the most impressive mobile phone to date, taking what was already a hugely popular model and improving not only the look but also the excellent list of features.

The iPhone 4 and the HTC Wildfire White are coming soon
