Different Types of Diabetes And Their Symptoms

Diabetes is life threatening disease, victims of it now includes young children and teenagers. Diabetes is defined as a condition when there are high glucose levels in the blood. This is due to the fact that insulin production has come to a halt or produced insulin is not responded by the cells.

Type 1 diabetes also known as juvenile diabetes is due to the auto immune system of the body which destroys the beta cells of the pancreas responsible for secretion of insulin. This type of diabetes is now more common in young adults and teenagers. Genetic therapy was developed to treat diabetes type 1 although it has its own limitations. Diabetes type 2 is mainly because of age factor. People who are above 40 years age are more prone to diabetes type 2.

Another important type of diabetes is gestational diabetes. It is to women, it occurs generally in second phase of pregnancy. It may till the delivery, if proper care is taken by the mother during pregnancy by following necessary medications. On the other hand if ignored it leads to type 2 diabetes. Women with gestational diabetes are at risk of having large babies.

Diagnosis of diabetes is done mainly by two tests Urine and Blood test. If glucose samples appear in urine test then it then the person is positive to diabetes and blood test is done mainly in three ways in all these tests the blood glucose level is high above normal blood glucose level.

The most common signs and symptoms of diabetes are increased thirst, frequent urination, numbness in feet, blurry vision. Diabetes also leads to other severe complications if it is left untreated. It leads to strokes and heartattacks.

A diabetic person needs to take diet which is rich in fiber content and healthy food. Eating vegetables raw is a good option. Examples of vegetables rich in fiber are Bitter gourd, onion, barley, amla, cinnamon, sweet potato.

The food items that a diabetes person should amputate or avoid includes junk food which are fast food items . They should avoid fruits and vegetables which has simple carbohydrates in them. By avoiding these things they can control diabetes to certain extent and not making it worse.

Type 1 diabetic persons need to take insulin doses or injections to maintain their blood sugar levels to normal. Type 2 diabetic people can control and avoid diabetes by taking proper diet and involving themselves in physical routines. Physical activities include running, jogging, skipping and swimming. These all makes a person fit and keep him/her from diseases and look better .
