subject: Do It Yourself Solutions For Sliding Doors [print this page]

To create more room, as needed with closets and doorways, a tremendous is the sliding door. The bypass door category involves two panels that slip past each other. It is quite natural to employ them for wide closets.

It's a hardware setback when the door becomes immovable, derailed, or don't reach the floor. Try out the roller brackets first. Hold down the rest of the brackets while joggling each one. If a bracket seems loose, try tightening the screws that hold it to the door.

The whole door should be disengaged if you can't find out which brackets are loose. First, get rid of the guides. Unscrew them and set them aside. Guides that have broken down should be substituted with new ones from the hardware store. There are times when bent ones can be saved using pliers.

Next, have a helper grasp the outer door along one of its long edges while you grasp the other edge. In sync, push the bottom outward. Shove it upward in a simultaneous motion. Rest the door against a wall that's close.

In the same manner, detach the second door. Lining the door up with openings in the track can work if you can't remove the bypass door as described. With an unbound door, screws can be more easily tightened especially for wobbly brackets. Distended screw openings call for bigger screws.

To install bypass doors, you just have to perform the procedure backwards. Once installed, they should be suspended at a level angle. Reaffix the floor guides, leaving enough space for the door glides not to bump against anything, including each other. Bifold or accordion doors are differ from bypass doors in that they involve foldable panels and a single overhead track. Inside the track are either roller brackets or short spindles, which make the doors stick.

Separate the door by removing the spindles and then lifting the door where the pins are. At the same time, tilt the bottom away from the floor bracket. Clean the spindles before putting the door back. The channel interior gets the same treatment.
