As often as a woman might complain about having to deal with a monthly menstrual cycle, that same woman is most definitely not looking forward to going through menopause. Just about every woman has a hard time going through menopause. You need to understand the different symptoms of menopause so that you can be a good support system for the women in your life who have to go through "the change". One of the more annoying menopause symptoms, especially for the woman going through it, is a loss of mental acuity. Many women report difficulty concentrating, feeling disoriented and even often feeling confused. Disturbing lapses in memory have also been reported by many women. This is not just frustrating for the woman who has the lapses but also for the rest of the people in her life.

Be sympathetic if the women in your life experience this symptom of menopause. The woman is more annoyed with it than you are!

Many women who go through menopause report that one of their menopause symptoms was a sudden difficulty in sleeping through the night. If you haven't ever had a problem with sleeping through the night and are suddenly having a hard time staying asleep and you are of a certain age, it is possible that you could be going through menopause. Sometimes this trouble sleeping is accompanied by hot flashes or night sweats. Other times it is not. Many other times this symptom just gets chalked up to little more than something simple keeping you from sleep, like stress. It is a good idea to have your doctor check out this symptom, especially if you are of a certain age.

Many women will experience anxiety or panic attacks during menopause as a result of changing sense of security. Some women describe this feeling as being on edge all the time without knowing why. Do not mistake these sensations as panic attacks, there is a difference. If you or one of the women in your life is experiencing these feelings on an increased basis (or without noticeable cause to feel that way) it is possible that she has begun to go through menopause (or will start going through it soon). Remain calm, be as sensitive as you can to what she is experiencing.

Lots of people think puberty and menopause are basically the same thing. The body is experiencing a major change that women cannot control. Lots of woman say, however, that menopause is more difficult than puberty because the symptoms are more severe and varied.

It is good to learn what you can about menopause symptoms because doing so will help you deal with all of your changes. If you aren't a woman you should still learn about menopause symptoms so that you can better support the women in your life who have to deal with the symptoms first hand.
