I knew if I stayed where I was that things would remain the same and in a way I would become my illness. Yes, I was completely debilitated by a chronic illness that I was diagnosed with 15 years prior to this. Unable to care for my family, our home or it seemed be part of the world at all. Something needed to shift to open my life to new possibilities. My partner had a passion for yachts and the ocean, me for anything and everything to do with horses. We decided to look for a property down south and change our lives.
I noticed the advertisement for the property in Wonnerup (Busselton) and couldnt believe my eyes near the ocean and 10 acres. It was a little more than we had budgeted for but we just had to look. After going twice to look we decided yes this was the place for us to expand our vision and open up our lives. Somehow we convinced the bank to loan us the money, left our lives and work behind and moved to SeaHorse (or 75 Lockville Road, Wonnerup). Just 10 minutes from the beautiful beach side town of Busselton .
The dream of SeaHorse started then. On a beautiful summer day on the beach with no-one else as far as the eye could see. A dolphin came to greet us. We played with it in the shallows, the water a beautiful aqua blue and we knew this would be our home for some time to come. We felt then it would be forever.
With the move I let go of all the help and social services. It was to be a new beginning. It took about 3 months to build up the strength mentally physically and emotionally to manage things by ourselves. As we grew and learned I became stronger and stronger and my illness lost its strength. The clouds seemed to clear and there in front of us was an open sky. It felt like now we had the possibility to do whatever we set our minds too. Really we always had this opportunitywe just couldnt see it!
Bit by bit we followed a path that lead to the creation of the SeaHorse Equine Centre. Over 50 travelers from around the world helped us achieve our plans. We shared our dreams, our culture, and a passion for horses. We worked together towards a common goal. Best of all we had some of the best fun I have ever had in my life. I watched as these young peoples lives changed from the experience they had here at SeaHorse. I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life. I am sure that this quiet beautiful environment in which we lived helped us all to let go of old ways that had been restricting us in our lives. Through this experience we made lifelong friends who we still travel to see around the world.
The things that have happened because we moved to SeaHorse have gone far beyond anything I could ever have dreamed. So you might say Why sell SeaHorse??? Just as we knew then that we needed to make a change to open up new possibilities in our lives so do we now. My partner also has a dream and it is now his time to follow it. I have new ideas for my business and its now time to consider (with great reluctance) moving to a new location that will allow this growth. I will continue to do my work from this new location which will I am sure spark many more new creative ideas.
We are now letting go and opening the door for someone else to experience the magic of SeaHorse.
