Rid Nits Naturally

You are probably aware that the most common symptoms of a head lice infestation are itching, dandruff-like flakes which stick in the hair and hair loss. Lice infestation may lead to severe irritation and discomfort and, in rare cases, may also lead to anemia. Below are some alternative natural treatments that can help you rid nits naturally. These treatments are as follows:

Neem seeds - these seeds are known to be one of the best home remedies when it comes to head lice. Neem derivatives may not kill the lice right away, but they can repel the pests and affect their growth and physiology. Neem seeds and water can be ground together to create a fine paste. This can be spread onto the hair and washed off after 4 to 6 hours using regular shampoo. You should repeat the same procedure each week for one month.

Mixture of oils - mix 4 drops of rosemary oil, 4 drops of geranium, 8 drops of tea tree oil, 8 drops of eucalyptus oil and 30ml vegetable oil. Apply this thoroughly onto the scalp and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash it off using ordinary shampoo and repeat the same method after several days.

Mayonnaise - a handful of mayonnaise should be applied onto the scalp and hair before covering the hair with a shower cap. Leave it for a few hours and then wash it off using a mild shampoo. Repeat the same process at least 2 to 3 times a month to rid nits naturally.

Olive oil - treatment should be started by pouring the oil onto the hair and make sure that the oil reaches the scalp and the hair from roots to tips. Put on a shower cap and tighten it by taking a shower. Leave it on overnight and wash it off thoroughly the following morning using vinegar.

White vinegar - add 2 teaspoonsful of white vinegar to a cup of water. Apply the mixture onto the roots of the hair using cotton swabs and cover the head with a shower cap. Leave it on overnight then wash it off using a mild shampoo the following morning. Repeat the same treatment after several days to completely rid nits naturally, and lice as well.

Lemon juice and garlic paste - this is considered one of the best treatments due to the anti-bacterial properties of garlic and the acidic properties of the lemon juice. Using equal quantities of both ingredients, create a paste by mixing them well. Apply onto the scalp and hair and leave it there for 15 to 30 minutes before washing it off with a shampoo. Repeat the procedure 3 to 4 times in a month.

Chemical based infestation treatments and insecticides may be harmful to you or your child. Aside from that, head lice and nits may become resistant to these chemicals and may only lead to their further growth. As much as possible, opt for a natural home remedy when treating head lice, as these home remedies are a lot safer and more effective. This can help you to rid nits naturally and eliminate lice as quickly as possible.
