Russians have long had a love affair with real estate in Bulgaria, particularly for investment, and if two overseas property events in the country are anything to go by, that love affair is still going strong in 2010. The first event was the Moscow International Investment Show on October 1st and 2nd which was attended by 6,400 visitors, and the second was held in St Petersburg on October 15th and 16 and was attended by over 6,500 visitors, both events demonstrating Russia's continued interest in international investment. Russia's leading overseas property magazine International Residence attended both shows in order to gain insight into the current demand from Russians for international property investment in particular. The statistics gathered make interesting reading when it comes to property in Bulgaria as it seems Bulgaria is still high on the list of favoured investment locations for Russians.
At both shows, Bulgaria came second on the list of favoured global locations for property investment, with 16% of the vote in both cases (Spain coming top in both cases with 21% of the vote in Moscow and 18% of the vote in St Petersburg). The statistics clearly indicate that Russians would still prefer to invest in real estate in Spain and real estate in Bulgaria than in any other locations around the world. In Moscow, when asked when they were intending to buy property abroad,47% replied within the next 12 months, 44% within 1-2 years and 9% indicated later, while in St Petersburg, 42% indicated within the next 12 months, 47% said within the next 2 years and 11% said later. It seems that Russians are not delaying their property investment purchases for any upturn in the global economic climate, news which will be welcomed by anyone looking to sell property in Bulgaria at the moment.
