Why is the price of human hair extensions increasing?

I'm speaking about the various hair extensions methods and products in the market. With so many people wearing fake hair, it's no wonder hair is becoming a scarce commodity. In China for example, there have been so many young woman who have chopped their hair and sold it for measly little money that it has become rare to find women with long hair. However, China is undergoing a modernization process and the standard of living is better for most. The type of jobs that young people seek has changed as well. Years ago, young women who had no education and experience sought labor intense jobs and they did it for very little money. Hair factories were able to make wigs and hair extensions with these low cost labors and sold them at a nice profit which was still very affordable to the end users. Now, more than ever this labor market is becoming very scarce with more young people seeking less labor intensive and more skilled jobs the cost of manufacturing has increased. Coupled with the scarcity of human hair, the price of wearing hair extensions is very high.

Although the price has gone up steadily for the past 10 years, the demand has not decreased. That's because it has gone main stream and not just for black women. We've known about certain hollywood individuals to spend in excess of $50,000 to have a full head of hair extensions, but regular customers usually spend about $200 for a full head. Some charge more than $1200, but in average about $200.00 for a good job.
